Force close when trying to change the ringing tone from WhatsApp?

Problem

When users try to change WhatsApp's ringtone, WhatsApp forces a close, as shown in the figures below: 

Cause

This is an incompatibility between WhatsApp and some device models. 

Temporary solution

Change WhatsApp ringtone in device settings:

1. Go to Settings > Notifications & status bar, then search for WhatsApp or find WhatsApp under Most recent. 

2. On the Notifications page, tap Social > Notification tone, and then
