Problem:

The device heats up or gets overheated when using functions such as video chats and VoLTE HD calls.

Cause:

During a video call

Standard term:Video call
Definition:A call with video imagery of you and the other party in real time.

, the camera, screen, speaker, and video data transmission work at the same time. Compared with conducting a single task such as playing videos or listening to music, the heat generated during a video call is significantly higher. This is a normal phenomenon.

Solution:

  • Avoid making long video calls.
  • Lower the screen brightness.
  • Avoid charging your device while making a video call.
  • Make video calls in an environment with a stable Wi-Fi connection or good signal reception. A poor signal reception may also lead to your phone/tablet heating up.
  • Close background apps that are not in use during video calls.

On your phone/tablet, go to Settings > Apps & services > Launch manager, swipe right on the function keys for automatic app management, or swipe left for Manage manually (You can choose whether to allow apps to run in the background).

It is recommended that you keep frequently-used social apps (such as WeChat, TikTok, and Alipay) running in the background. This ensures that your device can start apps more quickly and receive messages timely as well.

Notes: Apps whose background activities are not allowed will be stopped from running by default after the screen is turned off. When you open it again, such apps may start up a little slowly, during which the CPU (processor) will run with high payload for a short period of time. When multiple apps are started for the first time, it is normal that the phone heats up obviously.
