Problem:
The phone/tablet overheats when watching videos or live streaming content.
Cause:
When watching videos or live streaming content, the device screen remains on while the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) and Central Processing Unit (CPU) work continuously. This increases power consumption and your device may heat up, especially when mobile data is in use.
Solution:
- Go to Settings > Display & brightness and enable Automatic. This will help reduce power consumption and prevent overheating of the screen.
- Lower the media volume in speaker mode to avoid excessive power consumption and overheating.
- Disable the real-time commenting feature to further reduce power consumption and heating.
- Watch videos or live broadcasts in a stable network environment.
The antenna and other hardware are put under a heavy load when you're watching videos online or live streaming, especially when the signal is unstable. This is because your device increases signal reception and transmission power automatically, resulting in power consumption increasing and heat being generated.
- If you are watching an HD video, the power consumption may increase due to a high video resolution. Try lowering the video resolution to see if this resolves the problem.
- Avoid watching videos while charging your device, as this may make the overheating worse.
- Close background apps that are not in use to avoid excessive power consumption and overheating.
On your phone/tablet, go to Settings > Apps & services > Launch manager, swipe right on the function keys for automatic app management, or swipe left for Manage manually (You can choose whether to allow apps to run in the background).
It is recommended that you keep frequently-used social apps (such as WeChat, TikTok, and Alipay) running in the background. This ensures that your device can start apps more quickly and receive messages timely as well.
Notes: Apps whose background activities are not allowed will be stopped from running by default after the screen is turned off. When you open it again, such apps may start up a little slowly, during which the CPU (processor) will run with high payload for a short period of time. When multiple apps are started for the first time, it is normal that the device heats up obviously.
