Voice Search Not Working on Huawei Devices - Waze as example

Problem 

When using voice search in the Waze app on a Huawei device (such as Mate X7), the feature does not work, or the app may crash.


Cause

Waze voice search depends on Google voice input services.
If the Google voice service is not installed or not set as default, voice search will not function properly.


Solution

Follow these steps to enable voice search:

Step 1: Update the device software

  1. Open Settings

  2. Go to System & updates

  3. Tap Software update

  4. Install the latest system version


Step 2: Install the Google app

  1. Open Huawei AppGallery

  2. Search for Google

  3. Download and install the Google app


Step 3: Enable microphone permission for Google

  1. Open Settings

  2. Go to Apps & servicesApps

  3. Find and tap Google

  4. Tap Permissions

  5. Enable Microphone


Step 4: Set Google as the default voice input

  1. Open Settings

  2. Go to Apps & services

  3. Tap Default apps

  4. Select Assistance & voice input

  5. Tap Voice input

  6. Choose Google Speech Recognition


Result

After completing these steps, Waze voice search should work normally.
